Pedagogy, and since then the ideas and “technics” of Freinet </span><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"> </span><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">took a large part in my thinking, writing </span><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"> </span><span style="font-family: 'Times New Roman', serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">and teaching about good school practice.</span></div>

to national and international Freinet Meetings, and took responsabilities in
Freinet teacher training in Germany and in the Directory Board of the FIMEM (from 2010 to 2012, I was the
International Secretary of the FIMEM). I studied French and German, and I speak
and write French and Spanish fluently, but I apologize for my English.I even
made some attempts to learn the Turkish
language, but I found it very very difficult… <o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">From 1975 to
1993, I worked at the University of Duisburg, in the Ruhr District of Germany,
where millions of migrant workers lived (and still live) with their children
(most of them from Turkey). There I started – together with a group of young
teachers – to introduce Freinet Techniques in classes with a high amount of
migrant children, who had to learn German as a second language. We tried to work
with Freinet techniques, for instance we went out of the classroom with the children,
in order to explore the surroundings of the children’s homes and their (ugly
but interesting) part of the town. And we invited them to use the German
language in natural situations, such as
buying fruits and vegetables on the market. So they used their German vocabulary in authentic
speech acts, and – back in the classroom –made rehearsels by “cooking” fruit salad and vegetable soup
together.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

example how to refer to Freinet Techniques in order to develop individualized
and living instruction of German as a Second Language. It is a shame that
school success for migrant children in the German school system is very hard to
reach, and that a high porcentage of them still fail. The challenge actually is
to insert the children of refugees in German schools. How can we give them a
fair chance of success?<o:p></o:p></span></div>

I have took part Comenius-program three times in my elementary schools. Now we have got together seven European countries: Finland, Estonia, Spain, Belgium, Ireland, Greece and Cypros. It is very interesting to travel to other schools in Europe and get to know their school life. We have done many kind of activities with pupils in the age 6-12 years; short mowies, a story book, songs, a cooking book is coming, Skype connection between schools etc. We use eTwinning as well. Our language is English but we try to learn every language a bit and of course we learn much about other cultures. If you want to see our activities you find some of them here:<br />

<strong>Teaching adults</strong><br />
I teach Italian to adults in a folk college. They come to the lessons once a week for 1,5 hour. Of course people are tired after the work. They need much different kind of activities: music, films, listening the language/grammar in video, pair exercises, stories and experiences about Italy (travelling and culture), even tastes. I try to get them move a bit during the lessons. I create pair exercices also by myself. Like this:<br />
There are two students. The other one tries to create his dialogue in Italy and the other student knows the right answer. He can help if needed. Both of them have got the conversation paper Finnish-Italian.<br />

I had a very good experience on Officina Creativa
Interculturalle as a student of Italian for foreigners mainly because
they were flexible, sensitive and understandive enough towards the
situation of being a foreigner. Our fears, needs, expectations,
dreams, particularities and isolation situation, where included as
part of the lesson and used as theme for learn italian language.
Independent of all ages, cultures, life situations, italian level, we
will always start and finish with a simple activity together, which
help us to connect with each other, that shared the some common
strugle.

The strongest point of this experience was the
hosting, the enviorment of open arms, listening, looking, mediator of
diferent cultures and gather promotion, and the creative, personal
and non formal education methodologies.</div>

The weakest point of this experience was the

continuity of evolution between classes, lack of evaluation moments

behind it, that mades each story teller different from another and
the same story being told diferently as we put so much of our
sensitivity and non verbal language inside but underline. But while

organized portuguese culture events about literature, music and some
particular places as city of porto. The idea is to present, to

challenge to get people interested on a language that though very

events adults were gather to find a meeting of at least two cultures
about a theme that would be explored according with these cultures in
order to promote a bigger intercultural dialogue on the cultural
events and take advantage to involved local foreigners to teach us

organized one about mythology (with Portugal, Germany, Greece and

process of the activities proposed and the pleasure to find a place
where they could connect with strangers through activities different

it isn't”</strong></div>

workshop adults, children and persons of all ages were invited to
create a book never seen before from waste materials. It had to had a
cover where the title, author, date, place and promotor (editor)
would be placed, and then its content with some way of organize the
pages with story content. The books where placed in the Library
together with normal book, with a poster explaining what were they
about and a basket with ideas for inviting readers to build at home
more of these books, for a month.</span></strong></div>

is behind the process of a book, the creativity required to it's

the most effective ways to learn to speak and understand a language
is the need and the enjoyment of use it. </span></strong>

children's English classes I worked teaching english and literacy through songs, nursery rhymes sculptures, puppet theatre and theatre, dramatic expression, story
telling, outdoor traditional games (that included verbalizing english
sentences) were included. Besides that one of the biggest
focus of my work was the play activities recreating literacy contexts such as:
restaurants, supermarket, teddy bear hospitals, pretending travel
experience, travel agency, shopping centre and the shops street and
hotels. Finally we develop works about stories like art instalations and workshops of building their own books or of English vocabulary (to add to library school). </span></strong></div>

<span lang="EN-US">I teach Italian as a foreign
language in a private school of <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Athens</st1:place></st1:city>.
In this school the students have a free choice of a second foreign language
among Italian, French, German and Spanish (the first foreign language of course
is English). They study their foreign language from the third elementary class
until the third class of high school.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

<span lang="EN-US"> So my students are from 8-15 years
old ! <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-US"> Therefore
for the 3<sup>rd</sup> elementary class the main idea is to get the students
close to the Italian sounds, the Italian pronunciation, culture and music.
Basically I use flashcards, songs and videos with main educational tool the
interactive blackboard. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-US"> For
the next classes they learn to write phrases, to decline verbs, to speak. The
role-play activity is very constructive and they empower their communicative
skills so as to reach at the last class of primary school to the A1 level. The
students at this age participate to the PLIDA juniores exams of Società Dante
Alighieri and they obtain the certificate of A1 level. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-US"> For
the high school I enrich their vocabulary, we improve speaking-reading and
writing skills and the students reach at the B1-B2 level (PLIDA exams).<o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-US"> As
a weakness I have to refer that the students study Italian as a foreign
language and not as a second language, which is very different. Second of all,
in the context of a private school and the language exams of A1-A2 and B1-B2
level it becomes very difficult to find enough space for cultural activities
and non formal education. I try to induct cultural stimulus and have a
methodology based on a communicative context.<o:p></o:p></span></div>

I teach<span lang="EN-US">
basic</span> IT competence <span lang="EN-US">to</span><span lang="EN-US"> </span>pupil<span lang="EN-US">s</span>
from different minority groups <span lang="EN-US">as well as to adult learners from the area</span>, and <span lang="EN-US">I haven’t too much </span>experience
in teaching a foreign language in particular. <span lang="EN-US"><o:p></o:p></span></div>

But I have wonderful observations and experience of learning
a foreign language (English), which <span lang="EN-US">I’ve</span> gained during my one-year training at the prestigious
Telford College in Edinburgh, Scotland<span lang="EN-US">, UK.</span><span lang="EN-US"> </span><span lang="EN-US"><o:p></o:p></span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
T<span lang="EN-US">here I</span>
was able to take a first-hand look at various
interactive methods of teaching a foreign language at this college<span lang="EN-US">. </span>I was impressed <span lang="EN-US">from</span> the way <span lang="EN-US">that the college’s teachers</span>
approached individually <span lang="EN-US">to </span>work
with each student, <span lang="EN-US">from </span>excellent
organization of the training<span lang="EN-US">, from</span>
provided rich material base <span lang="EN-US">to
</span>learn<span lang="EN-US">ing</span>
students, and the approach based on <span lang="EN-US">problem-solving method</span> for every problem in the <span lang="EN-US">process of learning.</span></div>

<span lang="EN-US"></span>One of <span lang="EN-US">the most</span> important methods
were the presence<span lang="EN-US"> and using</span>
of some IT training, personal approach to every<span lang="EN-US"> student, the </span>model of informal
communication, etc. </div>

Experience gained there was important to me - some <span lang="EN-US">of the </span>elements of <span lang="EN-US">teaching I’m using </span>when I

was a bi-lateral exchange, we managed to have a good contact between the two

for teachers and students! </span></div>

of L2 (2<sup>nd</sup> primary school of Paiania) this year too.</span></div>

<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">It was an interdisciplinary project
with the collaboration of three teachers: Foreign language, Music and Art
course.</span></div>

I work as a primary school teacher in Romania, but in a Hungarian-speaking class. Hungarians are a minority here, but they have the right to study in their maternal language. Also it is obligatory for the children to learn the Romanian from the first class as their second language. They have Romanian language classes four hours a week.<br />

<span style="color: black;">We talk about the pictures, we practise dialogues, make role-play activities, I teach them songs and poems too. In the second school year they not only learn the alphabet, but also they have to read and write in Romanian. Now the textbook contains short texts which help them to acquire reading skills and it contains many writing exercises too. </span></div>

<span style="color: black;"> In the third and fourth year the children continue to enrich their vocabulary, and also to improve their speaking, reading and writing skills.</span></div>

Teaching is my big passion .The whole procedure of
discovering new ways to communicate knowledge to different level of students is
fascinating. I would dare to say, the most productive and creative part of our
profession. The main desire is my students to love the Italian culture, having
as principle tool the Italian language. And this is possible, in my opinion,
only through experiential learning. Although the majority of my students is
adults, this is not a drawback for having a lesson full of joy and creative
activities.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Based on this theory, my lesson includes audiovisual means, such as
videos, music, slides and video recording. A marvelous combination of the Italian
culture and language is movies. That’s why they are my student’s and my
favorite one. For example, during a lesson, I had removed the subtitles from a
part of the movie “la vita è bella” and having divided the class into groups, I
asked my students to produce their own version of the dialogue. It was very
amusing for them and at the same time, they wanted to learn more information
about the director, the actors and the background of the movie.<o:p></o:p></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Another teaching method that we are very familiar with, is role-play
activities. This kind of activity is very popular and useful to adults. I have
noticed though, that in order that this activity would be effective and the
students would participate willingly, teachers should organise the classroom as
a theatre team.<o:p></o:p></div>

To sum up, the material sources and the methods for language
teaching are endless. What is necessary is the teacher’s love, eagerness and
passion for his/her profession<o:p></o:p></div>

In the Marina of Zea or Marina Zeas (Pasalimani) one can see parts of the Ancient Walls (Makra Teihi) that connected Piraeus with Athens. The Maritime museum is also situated there. along with my studies I was teaching Italian to immigrants teenagers in a voluntary

love teaching very much but I also like directing and supervising educational

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"> First of all,
I would like to say that I mostly have learning experience with foreign
languages than teaching experience. My experience with languages started when I
was born. I know I was born in Romania but my first language is Hungarian. So I
grew up speaking this language with my family, with my friends, at the nursery
and at the school, but I had to learn Romanian too, because if not, it would be
impossible to go shopping, or pass all subjects at school. For me sometimes it
was tough to speak Romanian, because the accent is absolutely different, and
some of my neighbors were laughing at me when we were young, so gradually I lost
my curiosity to improve my Romanian fluency. <o:p></o:p></span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"> Secondly at school I had English and
French lessons.</span><span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"> </span><span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">I have to recognize,
that my experience was not very nice. </span><span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"> </span><span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">I
was only an 11 year old girl, with eager to learn many things, but the
methodology was very unfriendly and rather boring, only memorizing words and
the verb tenses. I remember that before going to baccalaureate exam, I told the
French teacher, that if she wanted she could fail my exam, because it didn’t
matter to me!!</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"> Nevertheless, thanks God, my life
changed, with those bad experiences. After finishing my studies I worked 4 years,
as a primary school teacher, where I tried to use different types of methods
(games, songs, poems, visiting factories,…) to teach Hungarian and Romanian
languages too. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"> After that for personal reasons I
started to learn Spanish for 3 months before deciding to move to live in Spain.
I have to recognize that when I got to Spain I only understood something but I
couldn’t speak. For the first months as I wasn´t working, I went to Spanish
lessons for adult people, where the teacher was very charming and helped me a
lot to improve my fluency. She was patient, she gave me many photocopies with
exercises, she spoke slowly and repeated the times that were necessary. I think
the best way to learn a foreign language is living in the same country and
being surrounded with people who speak that language. So as I was living in
Spain and as I started to work, my fluency greatly improved. Five years ago I
bought some Spanish School books and I prepared on my own at home for the
exams. It was an extremely good experience for me, because I passed the highest
level exam at first, at the Official Language School in Spain. </span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">
<span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115%; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"> In spite of speaking three languages
fluency three years ago I decided to retake my English studies again. Now I
finished B1 level, what makes me feel very proud! </span></div>

<span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"> I strongly believe that over the years
the methodology has changed (there´s internet in the classroom and the digital
board helps a lot). Today our children have different kind of possibilities to
learn any language they want. New technologies help us to learn easily, and
develop our knowledge. We are able to
listen to music, news or lessons whenever we want, so in thi</span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;">s way the
languages </span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: 'Cambria Math', serif; font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"></span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%;"> are closer, only depends

My pupils are 7-8 years old. We can take for example Charlie Brown: I read the book of him or we watch Peanuts on the video. So we get to know Charlie. Every pupils has got in his mind his own image of Charlie. We begin to draw him. <br />
Then we work either alone or in pairs. I give a box to pupils, It can be a shoe box or a chocolate box.<br />
Pupils begin to create Charlie´s environment; his room or outside space. We use all kind little things; matchboxes, old wallpapers, everything we find at school etc. When "homes" are ready with beds, paintings on the wall, televisions, sofas etc. children put Charlie to live there. And they can play with these little houses. <br />
Now we can begin to write little stories about Charlie´s life. Later we can perform little plays about his adventures. Usually pupils write first the plays by hand. Then we write them with the computer. <br />
If we have a puppet show we can pre record the dialogue. So all can hear it. The voice of little<br />
pupils is not always strong enough. We use also much music in our plays.<br />

learn English, but their listening and speaking skills are rather low. Students
seldom have opportunity to listen authentic language (films are duplicated in
Lithuania). The teaching of English, in my country puts more focus on grammar,
reading and vocabulary than on listening and speaking. I try to focus on
listening skills using Podcasts from various websites.</span></div>

and more popular as it can be listened to whenever, wherever and as many times
as the listener wants. I want to raise the motivation of listening authentic

Since I was studying at English Teaching Department, I've been trying to learn Spanish and French, and new methods, techniques, and strategies to use in my teaching classes.
The first thing I have to mention is about the components of one of my typical lesson. I determine my goal for each lesson. I decide what standards my lessons will be centered on, and plan activities around the standards. Secondly,I decide what I will do to achieve the planned objectives; how this experience or activity will be conducted; what questions that encourage learning will be asked; how I will stimulate children’s interest; and what materials I will need to teach this lesson. Then,I write down materials that students will need to use to complete the activity, and consider what I will do while the students are working. After this, I check the students' work for understanding; create a tool at the end of the lesson to assess if the students learned the material or if I might need to introduce it again, and check their understanding, so I can plan your next set of lessons and know where to go next. At the end of each lesson, I ask myself how it went. I appraise the quality of my teaching and what I can do to make my lesson better next time.
Also, I want to talk about my favorite method, which is Communicative Language Teaching (CLT). I think Communicative language teaching makes use of real-life situations that necessitate communication. I have a chance to set up a situation that students are likely to encounter in real life. With his method, I can find myself talking less and listening more becoming active facilitator of my students' learning. I set up the exercise, but because the students' performance is the goal, I must step back and observe, sometimes acting as referee or monitor. A classroom during a communicative activity is far from quiet, however. My students do most of the speaking, and frequently the scene of a classroom during a communicative exercise is active, with students leaving their seats to complete a task. Because of the increased responsibility to participate, my students may find that they gain confidence in using the target language in general. Briefly, my students find a chance to be more responsible managers of their own learning. I always loved to learn languages, with the exception of the latin language, because I thougt it really good for nothing, there was no possibilty to use it in real life. So, first consequence for my teaching methods was the premise to take care when choosing themes, that they are useful in the life of the learners, that demands to inquire the learners needs and interests and to be always ready to leave the paths of the book and following the path of the discoverd interests, to stay in conversation and to listen and not only to talk.<br />

Learning languages meant and still means to me, exploring a new world, a new kind of thinking and analysing the world. So I like stressing this point of view when teaching, indicating and discovering what is simily and what is different in the logic of the different languages.<br />

First we need words, a lot of words, words of personal interest and we need to familiarize with the sound of the new language.At least I deem it the most important thing to fall a bit in love with the new language, because its real difficult to learn something you don´t like at all.<br />
<br />
To familiarize with a language I´d always liked to listen to the music, to see films or theatre. Even if I didn´t got the words, normally I got the feelings of the situations and I got the melody of the language.<br />
<br />
Using the language in real life-situations was my best teacher. <br />
<br />
My worst experience of learning a language had been in university, when I started to learn italian. We started by learning each day a new chapter of grammar. After a year I knew nearly the whole basic-grammar, but I couldn´t talk to anybody, because I had no words......and only my love for the sound of the language kept me going on with my studies.<br />
<br />
Last but not least I consider love and motivation the main factors in the field of teaching and learning. Since more than 20 years I live at Bonn.<br />
Bonn is a small town in the middle west of Germany in North Rhine Westphalia. Bonn is a city for cycles. Here usually you can do everthing by bike. There are a lot of cycleways. And the landscape is dominated by plains. There are only a few low mountains. Through Bonn the river Rhine flows. As I was born nearby the Rhine at Koblenz, living in the town with the Rhine or at least some water is very important for me. Bonn is a multicultural city. More than 180 nations are living and working at Bonn, because Bonn is the seat of a couple of institutions from the UN. My daughter is actually fascinated by sunsets.
